SVG Cut File Maker

Turn your artwork into SVG cut files for Cricut, Silhouette and Brother ScanNCut. Start free with single files, or batch convert a whole collection with Pro.

What makes a good cut file

A cut file is not just any SVG. The blade follows every edge in the file, so a good cut file has closed shapes, no stray specks, no hidden bitmaps, and pieces large enough to weed. This tool is tuned for exactly that: it fills shapes instead of drawing strokes, removes the white background, and drops tiny islands you would never manage to weed anyway.

Make a cut file in four steps

  1. Upload your design as PNG or JPG. Hand lettering, clip art, quotes and silhouettes all work well.
  2. Choose single or multi layer. The Line art preset gives one cut layer. The Logo preset gives one layer per color for layered vinyl and HTV.
  3. Clean it up. Lower Detail to remove specks and raise Threshold if letters look thin or broken.
  4. Set the size and download. Enter the width in inches so the file lands on the canvas at the size you plan to cut.

Selling cut files? Pro saves hours

If you run an Etsy or Creative Fabrica shop, you usually deliver every design as SVG, DXF and PNG. Pro speeds up that routine:

  • Batch conversion: drop a folder of designs, apply the same preset to all of them, and get one ZIP with an SVG and a DXF for each file.
  • DXF export: customers with Silhouette Studio Basic Edition cannot open SVG, but they can open DXF. Including both reduces "the file does not open" messages.
  • Single-color cut file mode: merges a colorful design into one solid silhouette, useful as a base or shadow layer.
  • Large images up to 16 megapixels, plus HD smoothing for small source art.

Weeding tips

Small counters inside letters (the holes in a, e, o) are kept as holes, so they cut cleanly. Script fonts with hairline connections can break apart when traced from a small image: raise Threshold or start from a larger file. If a design has too many tiny pieces for vinyl, consider it for printable sublimation instead and keep the cut file for larger sizes.

Respect copyrights

Only make and sell cut files from artwork you created or have a commercial license for. Tracing a character or brand logo does not give you the right to sell it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make my own SVG cut files?

Upload your design, choose the Line art preset for one layer or the Logo preset for several colors, clean it up with Threshold and Detail, set the size and download the SVG.

Can I sell the SVG files I make here?

Yes, if you own or have a commercial license for the original artwork. We claim no rights over your output.

Which machines are supported?

Any machine whose software imports SVG or DXF: Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio (DXF on Basic Edition), Brother CanvasWorkspace, Sure Cuts A Lot, LightBurn and more.

How does batch conversion work?

With Pro, select or drop many images at once. Each one is traced with your current settings, and you download a single ZIP containing an SVG and a DXF for every image.
